Behind the Design - simple foam free mechanics
Over the years I’ve accumulated a huge array of gorgeous vessels and containers to work with, but I know not everyone has a load of lovely containers to choose from.
If that’s you, fear not, I have a fabulous ‘Heath Robinson’ solution!
On first glance
This may look like a design in a swanky container,
BUT …
In fact, this is all created in an old plastic laundry tablet container taped to an Ikea candlestick
Ingredients
All picked from the garden, in the snow at the end of December:
Garrya elliptica
Hellebores of several kinds
Out of season roses flowering in the snow
Sweet pea trails (they never really got round to flowering and the foliage lasted until the heavy frosts in February)
Vinca major
Early Rosea Banksiae ‘Lutea’ buds
Rose hips
Mechanics
The wire was scrunched inside the laundry tablet container, which was then taped securely on top of the candlestick and I covered the container with white paper, to obscure the branding,
Once I started, however, it was apparent it was still a big, bright white ‘dollop’ to try and hide, so I added some gathered tissue paper to disguise it and fool the eye.
Even if the tissue paper could be seen at the end, it didn’t stick out as much as the harsh white paper.
As the frozen ingredients thawed out, I started to build up the design
Et voila!
A swanky looking creation made in an old plastic container taped to a candlestick.
Easy. Why not have a go? x
